This wine originates from Australia, specifically the Barossa Valley in South Australia, a region synonymous with premium Shiraz. St Hallett was established in 1944 by the Lindner Family, who were Silesian pioneers in the Barossa. The winery’s philosophy is centred on a deep understanding of the diverse Barossa vineyards, with a particular focus on preserving old vines and championing Shiraz. The Blackwell Shiraz is a tribute to long-serving winemaker Stuart Blackwell, who contributed to the estate for over three decades

The St Hallett Blackwell Shiraz 2019 is a full-bodied red wine. Its varietal composition is predominantly Shiraz, sometimes blended with small amounts of Semillon and Tempranillo. It displays a rich, deep crimson red color with vibrant hues. The aroma offers complex layers of blackberry, fine cocoa, and hints of baking spices. On the palate, it is opulent and elegant, with flavours of blackberry, black forest fruit, and waves of cocoa and baking spice. It has supple, polished tannins and a luscious, succulent texture, sometimes likened to ‘Thai silk’. The wine is brilliantly structured, balanced, and is considered a classic Barossa Shiraz style. It was matured in American oak barrels for 1216 months. The optimal drinking window is extended, with cellar potential suggested up to 2039.
