This elegant and famous champagne was first made in Epernay early in the nineteenth century. Created by Nicolas Perrier and his wife Adele Jouet, the brand was an instant success. They recognized the potential of overseas markets and Perrier-Jouet sent its first consignment to Great Britain in 1815 and to the U.S. in 1822.

French it may be, but in 1861, Champagne Perrier-Jouet was the favorite of Queen Victoria, and the House became not only the official supplier of the British monarchy, but also of the Swedish royal family and the King of Belgium.

Perrier-Jouets most famous champagne is its Prestige Cuvee, Fleur de Champagne, ensconced in the Emile Galle designed flower bottle that pays tribute to the Belle Epoque era.

95 Points – Wine Enthusiast

The iconic Belle Epoque bottle reveals a well-structured, taut wine. With Chardonnay very much in evidence in the mineral texture, the wine is almost as floral as the bottle.

94 Points – Decanter

Creamy lemon notes have a distant whiff of vanilla, but more air also reveals chalky, stony depth. The body is slender but comes with well-rounded richness, hinting at its rich autolysis with toasty notes. Lemon oil sets a citrus note that expands alongside the rich, yeasty sonorousness. The creamy finish is almost mellow.
