Kopkes 30 Years Tawny is a blend of meticulously selected wines aged in seasoned oak casks for an average of three decades, showcasing the cumulative character and elegance that only long maturation can deliver. The wine is crafted from traditional Douro grape varieties including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca, harvested from steep schist-laden vineyards along the Douro River. Aging takes place in the companys historic Vila Nova de Gaia lodges, where the temperate Atlantic-influenced climate enhances oxidative development. The result is a tawny of profound complexity, with notes of dried fruits, cedar, mocha, and sweet spice unfolding in every sip. Serve slightly chilled alongside crme brle, aged cheeses, or pecan tart.
Founded in 1638, Kopke is the oldest Port house, with a nearly 400-year legacy rooted in the Douros steep vineyards and cellaring traditions. Known especially for its range of aged Tawnies and Colheitas, Kopke emphasizes meticulous selection, long barrel aging, and elegant bottlings that showcase time as an essential ingredient. Still based in Vila Nova de Gaia, the house remains a reference point for age-designated Tawny Ports, combining history with consistent excellence. Each bottle, hand-painted in the traditional white script, is a testament to Kopkes dedication to craftsmanship, heritage, and the timeless beauty of aged Port.
