Les Forts de Latour 2019 is a red wine from France, specifically from the Bordeaux region and the Pauillac sub-region. This wine is the second label of the esteemed Chteau Latour. The estate is known for its meticulous viticulture and winemaking, with Les Forts de Latour being produced with the same care as the Grand Vin. The wine’s name comes from a historical plot on the estate, and its quality has been developed to the level of a Mdoc Grand Cru Class.
Wine Description
Les Forts de Latour 2019 is composed of a blend of grape varietals, with a higher proportion of Merlot compared to the Grand Vin. The blend for this vintage is 65.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31.9% Merlot, and 2.3% Petit Verdot. The wine has a deep garnet-purple or intense violet colour. The nose presents a complex aromatic profile of black fruits like cassis, plum, and black cherry, along with notes of cedar, cigar ash, and lavender. On the palate, it is described as medium to full-bodied, with powerful and ultrafine tannins. The flavour profile includes sweet red fruits, spice, and mineral notes. This wine is noted for its freshness, elegance, and density, and is described as a ‘powerhouse’. While it can be approached after decanting, it will benefit from additional aging. It is also important to note that the 2019 vintage of Les Forts de Latour is certified organic.

Vintage Quality
The 2019 vintage in Bordeaux was a warm, hot, and long growing season, with pockets of refreshing rain. The Pauillac appellation, in particular, had a successful vintage, delivering consistent quality across the board. This vintage of Les Forts de Latour is considered to be particularly serious, with a structure and intensity that nod to its grander sibling.
