From the prestigious Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux, France, Les Forts de Latour is the second wine of Chteau Latour, one of the regions most revered estates. Owned by Franois Pinaults Artemis Group since 1993, Chteau Latour is renowned for its biodynamic approach and rigorous attention to detail, both in the vineyard and the cellar. Les Forts de Latour, first released in 1966, benefits from the same winemaking expertise as the Grand Vin, offering a glimpse into the chteaus legendary style.
Wine Description
Deep garnet in colour, the 2018 Les Forts de Latour opens with an expressive bouquet of blackcurrant, graphite, and cedar, underscored by floral nuances and crushed stones. On the palate, it is full-bodied and structured, showcasing a precise core of dark fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a vibrant acidity that adds lift to its dense texture. Notes of cassis, tobacco leaf, and savoury spice carry through to a long, mineral-driven finish. Composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a small amount of Petit Verdot, this wine is both powerful and poised, with an ageing window extending through 2040 and beyond. A brilliant expression of Pauillac terroir, it combines depth with refined elegance.
