La Croix Ducru Beaucaillou 2015 ‘Cuvee Colbert’

Cuve Colbert is a special rendition of Ducru Beaucaillous La Croix Ducru Beaucaillou, aged exclusively in a large 45-hectolitre oak foudre. The 2015 La Croix Ducru Beaucaillou Cuve Colbert presents a ripe, dark fruit profile on the nose that unfurls with aeration expressive and profound with dark cherry, blueberry and underlying dark chocolate notes. The wine is surprisingly approachable on the palate with very silky and delicate tannins while retaining the richness, depth and concentration of the 2015 vintage. The backbone of acidity lifts the finish to give a very well-balanced wine. Just reaching its drinking window, it will benefit from another year or two of cellaring to show its full potential. It is one of those young Clarets that will be hard to resist the wine is already incredibly moreish and enjoyable to drink.
