His father, Nicholas, was a United Empire Loyalist who received the deed to the land where the winery is now located. The Speck brothers, who own the winery, shovel-planted the modern-day vineyards in the Short Hills Bench subregion in 1984, establishing themselves as Ontario’s Baco Noir pioneers.

The wine is generally medium-bodied, and the stylistic notes highlight its intensity and smooth finish.
