The estate’s name, ‘Ca’Marcanda,’ comes from a Piedmontese dialect expression meaning ‘The House of Endless Negotiations,’ referencing the lengthy process of acquiring the land.
2. Wine DescriptionThe Gaja Ca’Marcanda Magari 2023 presents with a clear ruby red colour and a purple tinge. The aroma profile includes ripe plum, black tobacco, some graphite, and dried rosemary. On the palate, the wine is described as precise and elegant. It is full-bodied and voluminous with fine-grained and silky tannins. The finish is long and juicy. The wine is a Super Tuscan blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. It is a wine of depth and finesse, showing a harmonious interplay of tannins and acidity, with good underlying freshness. The optimal drinking window is generally considered to be excellent for ageing. The estate is certified organic.
