Frank Cornelissen founded his estate on Mount Etna in 2001 with a philosophy of minimal intervention, allowing the volcanos unique terroir to fully express itself. His vineyards, many planted with old vines, are cultivated organically and often biodynamically, producing wines of striking purity and energy.
Munjebel Rosso is made from 100% Nerello Mascalese grown in multiple parcels across Etnas northern slopes, including Zottorinoto-Chiusa Spagnolo, Feudo di Mezzo-Porcaria, Rampante sottana, Piano Daini, and Cras. In the glass, it shows a vibrant ruby hue. Aromas of red berries, wild strawberries, dried herbs, rose petals, and subtle volcanic minerality rise from the nose. The palate is lively and textured, offering crunchy red fruit, blood orange, spice, and hints of savoury brine.
Ideal with roasted lamb, grilled pork, wild mushroom risotto, or aged pecorino. This pairing highlights the wines depth and character.
