Dating back to 1560, Chteau La Nerthe is one of the oldest and most celebrated estates in Chteauneuf-du-Pape. Its 220 acres of vineyards surround the historic chteau, set in loamy, sandy soils near one of the few natural springs in the region. This unique setting, bordered by woodland, creates a rare microclimatewarm, sunlit days followed by cool nightsresulting in white wines of exceptional character and individuality.
Grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning to preserve their freshness, with careful sorting to ensure only perfect fruit is used. After a gentle three-hour pressing in a pneumatic press, the juice is settled for 24 hours before undergoing low-temperature fermentation. Roussanne and Grenache Blanc ferment in French oak barrels and demi-muids, while Clairette and Bourboulenc are partly fermented in demi-muids and partly in stainless steel, preserving both richness and vibrancy. The wine then ages on fine lees for nearly nine months before the final blending takes place shortly before bottling, resulting in a refined, balanced, and expressive Chteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc.
