Today, his children Luca and Maurizia carry on this philosophy, producing wines that respect the land and emphasize purity and terroir expression.
The 2020 Sammarco is a compelling blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 5% Sangiovese. In the glass, it presents a deep ruby colour. The nose is striking, offering layers of ripe blackcurrants, cassis, and dark cherries, interwoven with notes of graphite, fresh herbs, and subtle violet. On the palate, it is full-bodied with polished tannins, showcasing concentrated dark fruit alongside hints of tobacco, leather, and spice. The wine balances power and finesse beautifully, leading to a long, savoury finish marked by mineral nuances and refreshing acidity. It is best enjoyed from 2025 through 2040.
