This Pinotage comes from dry-farmed bush vines planted in the 1970s on decomposed granite slopes of the Paardeberg, an area known for producing wines of finesse and restraint. Yields are naturally low, concentrating fruit expression while preserving vibrancy. The 2023 vintage benefited from a mild growing season, allowing for gradual ripening and excellent phenolic balance.
Fermented with a portion of whole clusters and indigenous yeasts, the wine underwent gentle extraction to highlight its aromatic detail and structure. Aging took place in older French oak barrels for 10 months, allowing the wine to evolve without overt wood influence.
Red-fruited and savory, this Pinotage straddles the line between rusticity and elegance. Ideal with grilled lamb, harissa-spiced vegetables, or aged Boerenkaas.
Wolf and Woman Wines is the solo project of Jolandie Fouch, a rising star in the new wave of South African winemaking. After honing her skills at top estates across the Cape and abroad, she returned to her roots in the Swartland to craft wines that honor place, tradition, and restraint.
The name Wolf and Woman reflects her pursuit of balancebetween strength and intuition, wildness and precision. Jolandie works exclusively with dry-farmed, old-vine parcels, practicing minimal intervention both in the vineyard and cellar. Her wines emphasize freshness, texture, and honest expression of South Africas unique terroirs.
The Old Vines Pinotage is a key part of her mission to reframe perceptions of the grape, offering a soulful, site-driven alternative to heavier styles.
