Wester Reach is DuMOLs signature regional Pinot Noir, composed from a meticulous selection of vineyard sites spanning the cool western edge to the slightly warmer inland reaches of the Russian River Valley. The 2023 vintage blends estate-grown fruit with grapes from some of the appellations most pedigreed growers, including vineyards rooted in Goldridge and sandy loam soils. Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts and partial whole clusters to enhance aromatic complexity and fine-grained tannins, followed by levage in French oak barrels (around 3540% new) for 12 months. The result is a wine of layered depthred-fruited and floral up front, with a mineral spine and savory nuance unfolding with air. Pair with duck breast, mushroom risotto, or grilled salmon.
DuMOL, founded in 1996 and led by winemaker/partner Andy Smith since 1999, is celebrated for its precision-crafted, vineyard-focused wines from Sonoma County. With a philosophy rooted in minimal intervention and deep site expression, DuMOL works closely with family-owned vineyards and manages its own estate properties using sustainable farming. Each wine reflects an intimate understanding of site, vintage, and varietal, honed through decades of experience. While known for single-vineyard bottlings, DuMOLs Wester Reach line showcases the complexity and harmony achievable through thoughtful blending across top sitesdelivering both accessibility and age-worthy sophistication.
