ABOUT THE WINE
Sourced from 6080-year-old Gamay vines rooted in the sandy, decomposed granite soils of the Corcelette lieu-dit, this cuve is prized for its aromatic finesse and detail. The 2023 vintage shines with lifted red fruit, blood orange zest, florals, and a delicate mineral tension. Foillards hallmark vinificationorganic farming, 100% whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts, aging in neutral oak, and minimal sulfurpreserves the wines clarity and texture. Compared to his Cte du Py bottling, Corcelette offers a lighter, more floral profile, without sacrificing depth or longevity. Beautiful with charcuterie, roast poultry, or herb-crusted lamb.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Jean and Agns Foillard took over his fathers domaine in 1980. The biggest part of their vineyards are planted on the Cte du Py, the famed slope outside the town of Villi-Morgon. . These granite and schist soils sit on an alluvial fan at the highest point above the town and impart great complexity. Jean and three other local vignerons, Marcel Lapierre, Jean-Paul Thvenet, and Guy Breton know as The Gang of Four, called for a return to the old practices of viticulture and vinification: starting with old vines, never using synthetic herbicides or pesticides, harvesting late, rigorously sorting to remove all but the healthiest grapes, adding minimal doses of sulfur dioxide or none at all, and refusing both chaptalization and filtration.
We are raving fans of Jean Foillard for his commitment to organic practices and ability to bring the best out of the Gamay grape. Beaujolais fans, Foillard is not one to miss!
