Sourced from the granitic slopes of the En Mortperay lieu-dit, situated on the northern edge of Moulin–Vent, this wine benefits from shallow, pink granite soils with quartz and manganeseideal for Gamay with structure and longevity. In 2023, optimal harvest conditions allowed for precise ripeness and natural balance. The fruit was partially destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, then aged in a combination of stainless steel and neutral Burgundian oak barrels for 12 months to preserve energy and subtlety.
The wine is layered and focused: floral, dark-fruited, and texturally refined. While approachable in its youth, it holds the tension and backbone for graceful development over the next 510 years. Ideal alongside roasted duck, lentils with wild mushrooms, or aged Tomme de Savoie.
Domaine A.F. Gros is a prestigious name rooted in Vosne-Romane, where Anne-Franoise Gros carries forward the legacy of the Gros familyone of Burgundys most respected dynasties. While the domaine is primarily known for its refined Pinot Noirs from the Cte d’Or, A.F. Gros extended her vision southward to Beaujolais, bringing a Burgundian sensibility to the terroirs of Moulin–Vent.
Farming is done sustainably with an emphasis on soil vitality and low yields, and winemaking is precise yet non-intrusive. The Beaujolais wines, particularly those from En Mortperay, reflect this cross-regional masterycombining Gamays innate charm with the structure and elegance traditionally associated with Burgundy.
