ABOUT THE WINE
The R bottling from the village of Wachenheim reflects Dr. Brklin-Wolfs commitment to terroir-expressive, dry Rieslings rooted in Burgundy-like principles of vineyard classification. This wine comes from estate-owned parcels in Wachenheim, where the soils are a complex mix of sandstone and limestoneideal for cultivating structured, mineral-driven Riesling. The 2019 vintage benefitted from a cool spring and a long, even ripening period, producing fruit of high phenolic maturity and bright acidity.
Fermented with indigenous yeasts in large, old oak casks and aged on the lees, the wine achieves both clarity and depth. Aromatically, it delivers layers of citrus peel, underripe pear, chamomile, and crushed stone. The palate is dry and finely tuned, with tension, grip, and energy balanced by a supple mid-palate weight. This bottling is a perfect accompaniment to shellfish, lightly spiced Thai cuisine, or aged Alpine cheeses, and in magnum, its development will be beautifully extended over the next 1015 years.
