Further proof that Paso Robles has the ability to craft some of the worlds finest Cabernet Sauvignons, this is the third vintage of this wine. Its a tribute to founder Jerry Lohr from esteemed blocks of Clone 337 in the high-elevation calcareous soils of the Beck Vineyard, located in the regions Creston District. Blended with 11% Malbec and aged for 18 months in French oak, it was then transferred to a new set of barrels for a flash of two months to accentuate its ageworthiness. Rich, ripe plum accents the aromas and leads to a seamless palate of dry, dusty tannins and Old World acidity. Coffee bean and dark chocolate intertwine with dark summer berries and spiced tobacco. Its a teeth gripper til the end.

WINEMAKER’S NOTE:
Beck Vineyard, in the Creston District of Paso Robles, is a unique site. It sits at 1,700 feet above the early morning fog. Its calcareous soils and cooling afternoon winds are perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet from this vineyard ripens early with excellent color, purity of fruit, and phenolic maturity. Malbec is an ideal addition to the blend, as it complements the fruit component of the savory ’15 Cabernet Sauvignon. It also supplies a gain in color without adding more tannins.
