Double Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 (by Schrader Cellars)

In 2001, Fred Schrader created Double Diamond to make fine-quality Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that could be enjoyed every day without breaking the bank. This character-driven expression of Americas premier wine region is crafted by Thomas Rivers Brown in the Schrader Cellars tradition of excellence which has earned an unprecedented record of twenty-seven 100-point scores from the worlds most respected critics. Double Diamonds new label, as fabulous as the wine inside, was created by Carol Schrader. In fact, Carol met Fred when she was designing the original label back in the early 2000s.

Now, Fred and Carol are able to fulfill their dream of bringing Double Diamond to an even broader spectrum of fine wine lovers.

In the glass, the wine displays a nearly opaque ruby-purple hue. Upon closer inspection, aromas emerge in waves suggesting framboise, nutmeg, toasted cedar bark, plum reduction, and pennyroyal mint. The sleek palate is marked by mouth-watering notes such as blackberry compote, dark chocolate shavings, cassis, oolong tea, flint, and lavender. The dynamic flavors interact on the mid-palate with a vivid harmony, carrying through to the long floral finish, which lasts for up to a minute. With a pleasing acidity and fine tannic framework, this wine is very enjoyable today and should develop gracefully in the cellar for years to come.
