From New Zealands South Island, Central Otago is the countrys most southerly wine region, famed for its world-class Pinot Noir. Felton Road, established in 1991 in Bannockburn, has become an iconic name in biodynamic and organic viticulture. The Block 5 vineyard, planted in 1993, sits on a north-facing slope of loess, clay, and schist soils, producing wines of remarkable depth and longevity.
This Pinot Noir shows a deep ruby hue with vibrant clarity. The bouquet opens with dark florals, black cherry, wild herbs, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is elegant yet concentrated, offering flavours of ripe strawberry, plum, cassis, and hints of sandalwood and cocoa. The texture is sleek with fine-grained tannins, balanced by taut acidity and a mineral undertone. Medium to full-bodied, the wine carries a long, refined finish with great cellaring potential.

This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with roasted duck, mushroom risotto, or herb-crusted lamb. Its refined tannins and layered complexity also complement dishes like char-grilled salmon or wild boar ragu. Together, these pairings highlight the wines depth and character.
