A serious rose from Austria’s three main varieties Blaufrankisch, Saint Laurent and Zweigelt. Mature vines (up to 45 years old) grown on gravel and schist soils in the villages of Frauenkirchen and Jois. Biodynamically farmed, hand-harvested and minimal intervention in the cellar are signatures of Umathum, a solar-powered winery that mixes traditional craft and modern philosophy.

Umathum winery is mostly known for its authentic red wines like Zweigelt, St.Laurent and Blaufrnkisch which are available as elegant classic wines as well as characterful single vineyard selections. Josef Umathum produces also some fascinating white wines. He has re-established the original Pannonian white grape variety Lindenblttriger in Burgenland region and furthermore works with rare varieties like Gelber Traminer and Pinot Gris. A vast diversity of soil types like schist, limestone, clay and gravels is being cultivated on both sides of Lake Neusiedl. The most important single vineyard sites are Ried Hallebhl (Zweigelt), Vom Stein (St. Laurent), Haideboden (regional blend) and Kirschgarten (Blaufrnkisch) the last is situated in the only stone-terraced vineyard in Burgenland region.
