The 2014 Chteau Mouton-Rothschild is a blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, with the majority of the wine coming from the estates iconic Cabernet Sauvignon vines, which provide the backbone and aging potential for the wine. After hand-harvesting, the grapes were meticulously sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled vats. The wine underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels and was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak, contributing complexity and structure to the final wine. The 2014 growing season was marked by a warm summer, following a cooler spring, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and evenly, resulting in a wine with both freshness and concentration. The vintage is marked by a beautiful balance between fruit, structure, and acidity, making it one of the most approachable and elegant Mouton-Rothschild wines in recent years, yet it still possesses excellent aging potential.
