The 2000 vintage of Chteau Latour was crafted from a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, with the majority of the wine driven by the signature Cabernet Sauvignon, known for its depth and structure. After hand-harvesting, the grapes were meticulously sorted and fermented in stainless-steel vats. The wine then underwent malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, followed by an extensive aging period of 18 months in 100% new French oak. The 2000 vintage was marked by exceptional growing conditions, with a warm summer followed by cool nights that allowed for slow, even ripening of the grapes, resulting in a wine with both concentration and freshness. This vintage is a perfect example of Chteau Latours ability to create wines with extraordinary aging potential, combining power, balance, and finesse.
